Re-usability of Quick Dam sandbag alternatives vs. FloodSax® sack bags
Quick Dam flood barrier sandbag alternatives, similar to FloodSax®, are reusable sandbags, which make them both environmentally friendly. However, with the black casing of the Quick Dam Flood Barrier product, it is difficult to see if it has been contaminated and if it can be truly reused at maximum capability. The white and transparent design of FloodSax® sack bags make it easy to see if it is simply filled with clean water or if it is contaminated. If the contents or liquids absorbed in the FloodSax® are safe, one can simply let the flood bags dry out for reuse.

Engineering Sets FloodSax Reusables Sandbags Apart

FloodSax Reusable Sandbags build the BEST flood barrier protection wall.
To Reuse or Not to Reuse?
While other flood barriers Sandless sandbags claim to be reusable, consider that you only want to reuse the flood bags, if they are still clean. If the flood bags are contaminated with dirty, diseased flood waters, then it is best to get rid of the flood bag entirely. How do you determine if a flood bag can be reused? It is truly simple to visually detect contamination with FloodSax’s transparent design.

When you look at other reusable sandbags, they are typically a dark colored casing, which makes it difficult to detect whether you want to reuse your instant sandbag or not. The capability to detect contaminated liquids makes FloodSax the preferred reusable sandbag world-wide.
How do you reuse these reusable sandbags by FloodSax?
FloodSax Sandless Sandbags are reusable only in fresh water. Contaminated liquids absorbed should be handled with care and disposed of per government hazmat standards.
1) Dry out the bags – Simply lay out the flood bags out the in sun and let it completely dry out. Depending on where you live, time to dry out the FloodSax instant sand bags vary.
2) Once flood sacks are completely dry. Store them back in a bag in a dry and cool location (garage or basement)
3) FloodSax reusable sandbags can be used a second or third time, depending on how clean the liquid it has absorbed.

Instant Sandbags

How does an instant sandbag work?
FloodSax® has brought you a new sandbag alternative, the instant sandbag. Long gone are the days of the heavy, bulky sand filled sandbag that are difficult to move and maneuver. We bring you FloodSax®, water filled, expandable sandless sandbags. Our innovative instant sandbag is here to revolutionize the way that you protect your home and belongings from flooding due to household leaks or flash floods. The inner liner is semi-porous and contains hundreds of super absorbent polymer crystals (97% biodegradable), which absorb 5.8 gallons of water, or 50 lbs in just 5 minutes providing you with an instant sandless sandbag. Once the water or liquid is absorbed, the instant sandbag holds the liquid within, therefore protecting your home from water damage. Did we mention that FloodSax® can absorb nearly ANY form of liquid? FloodSax® soaks up chemical hazards such as gasoline, oils and much more.

How are our instant sandbags better?
FloodSax® Instant Sandbags are completely superior and a million times more convenient than your traditional sand filled sandbag. Aside from the labor and time that it takes to fill the bags with sand, traditional sandbags are incredibly heavy, bulky and difficult to set into a reliable barrier. With conventional sandbags, you naturally have large gaps in between, which allows for water and liquid to pass through. FloodSax® instant sandless bags require no labor or time to fill (because there is no sand). They are water-filled sandless sandbags that expand as you activate them with water or other liquids. Another benefit to FloodSax® is that they are extremely lightweight, weighing in at a single pound when dry, making it ideal for almost anyone to handle (including the elderly and disabled).
Instant Sandbags to Fight Flash Floods and Water Damage

loodSax® can be prepared before expected floods by putting them into position in their 1 lb. dry unactivated state. Once positioned in a place, FloodSax® are ready to absorb liquids in its path. If you prefer, FloodSax® can be instantly pre-activated by submerging in water and then stacked and staggered into position to create a flood barrier. Our instant sandbags will repel water reliably for 3 months after activation. They also come with a 5-year limited warranty and if stored in their sealed dry state, they have a 10+ years shelf life. FloodSax® are available in 5, 10, 20, 40 home pack cases as well as commercial cases. Once your need for our instant sandbag is met, if used to protect your home against a fresh water home leak, the bags can be cut open and the crystals are dispersed into your garden to keep your soil moist. Can you think of anything more exciting than being completely prepared to ward off water damage in your home without little to no labor or thought? Be-Flood Ready. Be Prepared.

Quick Dam Flood Barrier Review
Quick Dam Flood Barrier Review
Lets face it, there are many instant sandless sandbag alternatives on the market and it can be a difficult to try and figure out the right sandbag alternative for your needs. Lets first take a look at one of the Quick Dam’s Flood Barrier product; the Quick Dam Sandless sandbag (in black on the left) compared to the FloodSax / Flood Sacks flood bag (on the right). This is a view of both flood bags opened up completely without being activated by water.

On the left you will see that the Quick Dam Flood barrier bag has very little polymer filling, while the white FloodSax sandbag alternative had an evenly distributed filling.
*Its USPTO patented design allows of the FloodSax to stack higher sandbags, therefore building some of the highest flood barrier walls. (It won’t slip and slide off each other… like other instant sandless sandbags).
Quick Dam Flood Barrier product Review; Sandless Sandbags.

Here both the Quick Dam bags and the Flood Sacks are folded. This comparison allows a visual demonstration of the amount of polymer contents of each bag. Clearly Quick Dam flood barrier products have less filling, when compared to FloodSax sandbag alternatives.
Review on the amount of Polymer Contents in Quick Dam Flood Barrier product

Why is it important to compare the amount of filling content of the instant sandbags? The very polymer is what inflates the bag, which is used to fight flooding disasters and also is used as the absorbent for leak and spill applications. The more the polymer filling in the flood bag, the more volume capacity the bag has to 1) divert flowing waters 2) fight flood waters and 3) the more water/liquid it can absorb.
The photo of the Quick Dam Flood bag next to FloodSax says it all. Although the price point of a Quick Dam sandless sandbag is less than that of a FloodSax / flood sack, one can clearly see that one is getting less material and content to absorb liquid and fight floods, leaks and spills.
Here we review how a Quick Dam Flood Barrier product, the Quick Dam sandless sandbag inflates with fresh water (not with salt water). This bag inflates unevenly to one side, because the polymers are in pillowcase like bag, where the contents are in one large section. The result of such a simple design allows the polymer content to slip and slide around in the flood bag, making it NOT ideal for stacking flood barrier walls. Additionally, there is more time spent evening out the bag, by pushing the contents around to distribute the polymers.

When pulling out the Quick Dam sandbag alternative right out of the fresh water bucket, the result is a lopsided bag. Time and effort needs to be taken to flatten out and evenly distribute the bag’s content.
After the Quick Dam instant sandbag is padded down by hand to distribute the polymer contents, one can see that the bag’s average height is only 2-3 inches high. 2 to 3 inches in height is very low, when compared to standard sandbags.

Here is an image of both the inflated, water-filled sandless sandbags side by side. The Quick Dam sandbag alternative is longer, but shorter in width than the FloodSax flood bag. From the photo of the Salt water barrier compliant FloodSax (Quick Dam is NOT salt water barrier compliant), you can see outline of the patented design of the Flood Sack. With the 9 chamber internal design, the FloodSax inflate fairly evenly and do not require extra time and effort to even out the bag and its content. It is designed to build high flood barrier walls and do not slip and slide off one another when stacked high.
Here is a zoomed up photo comparing the height of the two bags next to each other. FloodSax is about double the height of the Quick Dam sandless sandbags.

Quick Dam Flood Barrier Review against FloodSax / Flood Sacks
See how Quick Dam flood bags stack up against Flood Sacks. Overall, Quick Dam flood bags require more time to setup, they are lower in height after inflation and do not stack very well on top of one another. FloodSax offers a better value for each dollar spent. It makes sense to spend a little more on a quality product designed to fight floods and indoor leaks and spills.

HybraBarrier vs. FloodSax Sandless Sandbags
What is a HydraBarrier?
A HydraBarrier is a yellow colored tube made of an industrial plastic, designed to keep water from coming into property. It comes in a variety of sizes (lengths and widths). Some would say that it is an effective sandbag alternative. The pros of this product is that its simple design makes it very easy to use.

How does the Hydra Barrier work?
The HydraBarrier water-filled tube system is really simple in function. First place the tube where you want to protect the area/ divert water. Then fill the tube up with water and plug the tube. That easy, however, when compared to other sandbags alternatives, there are other things to consider before buying a Hydra Barrier system online or in store.
What the HydraBarrier doesn't offer:
Once must ask if they know 100% the height of the floodwaters that they face. If you are certain that the height of the water coming into your home will be less than 20 inches, then the Hydra Barrier would be a solid option. With the following lists of sizes, they Hydra Barrier simple cannot stack up to a true high flood barrier wall:
The Hydra Barrier is Available in 4 heights:
- Standard : Offers up to 4 inches of water protection
- Ultra : Offers up to 6 inches of water protectio
- Supreme : Offers up to 12 inches of water protection
- Titan : Offers up to 20 inches of water protection
If you live along an area where flood waters can arise quickly and higher that 20 inches. The hydra barrier tube system will not be able to protect your property to the extent that you need it.

FloodSax and Flood Barrier Walls
FloodSax build HUGE flood barrier walls, because if its unique patented chamber design. It is built like a sandbag, but without the labor, sand and mess! It
2) The Hydra Barrier doesn’t soak up leaks and spills, such as the FloodSax super absorbent pad. Soaking up almost any liquid in its path, the flood sacks are ideal for indoors and outdoors leaks and spills.
Flood Sacks start at about 1 lb. each, making it easy for ANYONE to deploy! The disabled and elderly can pick up a flood sack and place it to prevent flood waters from coming into their property or under a leaky appliance to soak up liquid… preventing costly water damage.

In conclusion, depending on your needs the Hydra Barrier may be a good solution, if you’re expecting to divert low lying waters. However, if you must fight flood waters that may be high, then Flood bags/ flood sacks are a better choice.
